>>41932893Other Regions were designed in such a way that new areas loop back around to older ones via shortcuts and interconnected Routes. This encouraged revisiting older locations, and gave the world more organic exploration. When you clear the Sudowood tree in Johto, Route 36 becomes a link between Ekruteak, Goldenrod, Violet City, and the Ruins of Alph. When you unlock Meteor Falls in Hoenn, you can go south for a shortcut back to Rustboro. From there, Rusturf Tunnel will take you back to Verdanturf and Mauville City quickly. You can also use Rustboro to get back to Petalburg for your fight with Norman. Kalos uses Lumiose City with its radial plan at the center of the map, basically linking all of the major towns together. This makes it easy to go back and forth between areas without HM usage. etc, etc. These Regions were much more tied together than Unova, where Routes are designed almost entirely to take you forward. This is why people complained about the Region being too linear.
