Making these "cheat" type events that allow you to tweak base stats is much easier and faster. Alternatively you could just rewrite the mechanic entirely with a simple plug-and-play replacement. It won't even feel like a cheat if you work it into an event you do with some NPC that has magical potential releasing or nature changing brainwashing powers.
Disassembly is much more involved. Not feasible for every Pokemon autismo that is capable of delivering good gameplay ideas. I'm just saying both methods have their perks. And RPGMakerXP still runs like dogshit.
