Any anons interested in being a playtester?
Pic related is a WIP binary hack of Firered, titled "Crusade30K: Loken's Story". In it, you play as Garviel Loken, an up-and-coming iterator (fancy term for orator) that just got rejected in the qualifying rounds. Listless and more than a little bitter, our protagonist is wheedled into signing up for the League Challenge, even though he wants nothing more than to waste a year so he can reapply.
But hey, at least he can visit some different regions and read a hell of a lot of books, yeah?
Some features:
- all non-legendary mons from GensVI-VIII available (with some appearances from other gens)
- all wild battles are from overworld encounters
- all wild pokemon have a chance of being suitably wowed by your presence and asking to come along on your crusade
- all trainer battles are double battles
- ability to "skip" gym battles if you've read a certain book
- changes* for playing in-character (i.e., as a bibliophile)
- only HM's are Surf and Waterfall
- most NPC's won't be able to speak to you at first due to the language barrier
- IV's are superfluous; everyone has 31 IV's across the board
If you are interested, shoot an e-mail to
pbam-at-tablesort.net. The game currently has five gyms and is almost certainly filled with glitches, hence the need for playtesters.
(Also, the premise is a crossover with Warhammer's Horus Heresy but without the tragic component.)
