I don't remember if this happens in the anime, but in the electric tale of pikachu, trainers would issue commands from some sort of high-up platform to avoid damage from hazardous attacks. Even in the smash games, red issues commands from some kind of floating platform.
You'd think that, given how dangerous max moves look, there'd be some kind of similar platform or even a protective shield for trainers to issue commands without fucking dying. however i doubt the switch has the processing power to handle more than 6 models on screen lol
