They weren't at all. Call me whatever you want, but replaying Gen 6 after Gen 7 made me realize how bad 7 is. Yeah, it looks better than 6, it fixed exp share somewhat and it has a challenging campaign, but all that is locked behind a dialogue heavy gameplay which consistently break your pace on a small region with no exploration, puzzles or properly dungeon, with an awful bottom screen interaction, and with no national dex. But the worst offender of all are the lagged menus, pc, and the online. Especially the online.
Replaying made me feel happy and have fun again. I was burned out of pokemon but now it feels like a fresh experience, just like how I felt playing XY for the first time. I'm training 12 pokemon with ease, the online is still active and players help each other with O-powers, you can train easily and faster too. It's just really good to play compared to what we got.
