>>55752641Non-weeb here, I also enjoy the lapse of formal characters into vulgarity, definitely gives it more impact when their speech and ideally actions slip.
I have a soft spot for Emmet's stilted translations. The relative lack of contractions in his speech in the original games made me interpret him as being equally as formal verbally as Ingo, just not as florid, but nowadays the idea of him being all lax and accented is appealing.
Then there's bug husbando and his idiosyncrasies. I get the dumb thug perception with his slang and... questionable life choices, but his vocabulary and ways of expressing himself indicate he's actually pretty smart. Hell I don't think I've come across such a casual use of 'vaunted' since Sun/Moon came out.
Overall I go for speech styles that reveal a level of intelligence and deliberation, and if that means some informality to emphasize it then all the better, yo.
>Ingo's missing speech quirkI care anon! I'd be interested to know, I like deep dives into the weeb nuances
