It can fly and learn Fly despite not being a flying type or having Levitate, its arms can retract, and it can become a cannon to fire off attacks. Its shiny is cool, too. The only reason for unpopularity I can think of is a poor in game sprite/model to represent it and being associated with James Turner and Vanilluxe's line. Even then, that didn't stop ultra beasts like Poipole/Naganadel.

I've seen it on a fair number of in-game teams, it got a mega evolution, it could be much worse in competitive, it's a member of Steven's team, it kicks off Ash vs. Paul- one of the most popular ashnime battles and there's stuff like this floating around.
