>>39702235This is gonna be a hot take but I'd say fakemons are more ambitious than official designs because unlike official designs they aren't part of a full 100 or so mons, and need to stand out on their own as individual designs. That's why, when it comes to things like stats, moves, abilities, and typings, they're more often than not trying to unique or grandiose in scale.
For example, every generation has a few throwaway water types, usually referred to as "dex filler". Fakemons don't really have that unless they're being made as part of a full fakedex for a fangame or something.
tl;dr Everyone wants their shit to be unique, even to a detrimental degree.
