Though I think Ireland could work well alone. The main cities are a comfortable distance apart, there are quite a few geographic distinctions they could abuse (Ring of Gullion, Wicklow Mountains, snow in the northern hills vs. south where palm trees thrive).
Best of all, they could lift mythical locations, people and beasts and it'd be obscure enough that most people wouldn't complain about GF being cheap or whatever they described the musketeer crew.
