Basically the character is supposed to have an unknown sex and be a mystery in general, apparently possessing enormous power despite their eccentric and lewd behavior even though we never got to see it.
Until the sequel.The sex thing only comes up later in the level, but was was shoved to the beginning as part of cutting dialogue to get the initial localization out quickly. That's a different tale altogether.
Now comes the real problem. Rather than properly translate that the character is supposed to be a constantly changing mystery, they slapped on a bunch of alien pronouns and made the character out to be some sort of hermaphrodite.
In the end she's actually just a loli.
