Other fandoms I have come from before had done it well on several occasions, so I wouldn't say that in such an oversaturated market of fanfiction of Pokemon, there hasn't been one that hasn't done well with the concept.

I feel that Dialga, being such an omnipotent force hardly interacts with Celebi, but acknowledges its existence as it frequently dips through time.
