I kinda liked the counter-teaming in Reborn since the best counterpick mons were usually in areas you had to go out of your way for, like how you to activate all these pillars to open a side area that holds pic related to shit on the poison leader. Obviously not high IQ gameplay but its a nice way to encourage exploration. Meanwhile RR is just Kanto again so it didn't have that appeal. Blaziken is a big outlier here of course
Still, Reborn is definitely a game where you're probably better off just toning down the difficulty and karenfagging.
