I've played enough golem to give my opinion on it.
Its functionally the best deck, its gameplan is the same as gyarados but it has more options with hitmonlee and marshadow and cant get sniped/shut down by a bench attacker it also counters gyarados itself as hitmonlee cake take out magikarp and Golem can go toe to toe with Gyarados ex even if it attacked drudd last turn.
MI Golem the best stage 2 attacker in the game and is arguably the best attacker in the game out right, it wins the 2 attack brawl against anything that isn't charizard and a lucky stacked celebi all while only giving 1 point upon KO.
The deck is so strong that the only thing that can beat it is itself and I mean that in the way that it's kinda bricky getting you run 5-6 basics and sometimes you just can't get graveler or golem in your hand and it costs you the game.
Due to the way they designed gardevoir and Serperior I'm not so sure we will be getting evolution support and if we do it might benefit mewtwo and celebi decks more so then stuff like venusaur or golem but we'll see...
Anyway the deck is definitely a top contender, it takes while to win games with it but it wins pretty consistently and dont sleep on the GA golem run both and you'll get the win against those mewtwo's that you just couldn't get enough chip damage on
