Like Rhydon it also suffers from bad abilities.

Golem only gets Takedown and Double-Edge, and doesn't even have a prominent head.

This one is a bit flavorful. I think it'd meant to invoke tripping over Geodudes in the wild but this line tends to live in mountains and caves, not deserts. Also, how would this thing be able to hide, even in a sandstorm? Also it's rather bad.
Sturdy is fine, so let's keep it. Now, what are some options for replacing these two?

Not a lot to choose from. Solid Rock seems a shoe-in, but with superior HP Rhyperior will always be better at it. Anger Shell seems more in line with its explosive potential, can maybe be better than Sturdy with a Focus Sash. Earth Eater and Bullet Proof could both help with its numerous weaknesses.
