5. Pokémon X and Y
Release Date: August 27, 2013
Pokémon X and Y are the latest games in the series, but I don't see why they should be compared to the others. Pokémon X and Y are much different from the previous games, as well as from all the other Pokémon games. They are an RPG, and that makes a huge difference. They also have elements of adventure and strategy. That's a lot to take in, so it is best to take a look at the trailer for the game and to see for yourself why I'm so excited.
I can't even begin to imagine the challenge Pokémon fans will find on the seventh generation of consoles. It's pretty impressive to see how the franchise has developed over the years. What started off as a Pokemon trading card game has turned into a massive fan-favorite.
4. Pokémon Black and White
Release Date: October 18, 2011
I'm giving it a special nod this time because this was the first time in the series that I played a new game on a new generation of hardware. I thought the graphics were amazing and I loved that the games combined elements of strategy with exploration and adventure. It was really refreshing for the series.
There are five starter Pokémon, all in their original outfits, that can be used with a single player trainer. These are Pokémon that have appeared in the games before, but you never get to see them in their normal state. The story is a story about friendship and it was an emotional roller coaster. The art style and level design was wonderful.
I know this was the first time I played the game, but it's also the first game where I played the other version. I actually had to play it on three different systems to get the full experience. I'm very glad that the games were split in the way they were, and I recommend it to anyone who hasn't played it.
