>>54363297Why Hisuian? She's not a time traveler. I think the idea that Cynthia should exclusively use all pokemon from her home region is flawed. Also, there's this bit of throwaway dialogue from Platinum:
>My house? Even the region is a secret!Which implies she might not even be a Sinnoh native. Or it could be a dumb joke since this isn't referenced anywhere else as far as I know. The infamous house in Unova doesn't belong to her either BTW. Anyway let's look at all the pokemon she's used to see if we can find a theme:
>GarchompPseudo from the game she's introduced in so of course she has it, even though it doesn't really fit her vibe.
>LucarioHas that bit of lore where it can sense people's feeling and only fights for them if they're noble or whatever. I forget Lucario's lore. I think the point of this is to demonstrate that Cynthia is a noble, caring individual. Her hair thingies also match his dreadlocks. (I have a theory that Lucario was originally intended to be her ace, but got changed at some point in development)
>Spiritomb, EelektrossA pokemon that doesn't naturally have any weakness.
>Roserade, Milotic, TogekissI think we can group these as "girly pokemon" for the first girl champion. These aren't shitmons but they're not necessarily top picks for a final boss either.
>GastrodonOnly in D/P and BD/SP. I would argue that this is a gimmick pokemon with its east/west coast forms.
>GlaceonOnly in B2/W2. I think they just wanted to give her an ice type from Sinnoh and this broadly falls into "cute girly pokemon" too.
>Porygon-ZOnly used in the BDSP rematch. Notably, it has two moves in common with her Glaceon, so I think both of them are on her team for balance/coverage.
>Summary? She likes to use Sinnoh mons but she's not 100% married to the idea. She likes to use pretty pokemon. She likes pokemon that show off how nice she is. She likes pokemon with a defensive gimmick. Maybe picrel?
