I think one important thing people overlook in this argument is intelligence. I’ll suspend my belief enough for 1 billion fucking lions to not go into an absolute frenzied apeshit panic warzone and just start running or killing each other. For the purpose of the fight, sure, they somehow know they have to work together and kill the pokemon.
But if everything else about them is meant to be realistic, they’re still just lions. I know we underestimate animal intelligence but people come up with all these strategies and things the lions COULD do to win, but I just can’t see them doing. Like how would a lion know to take advantage of its large numbers and literally just pile up on pokemon to suffocate them? Sure they might happen to do that on accident when they just try to pounce and bite but it would never be a coordinated thing. Maybe a smarter animal like a chimp or dolphin would, MAYBE, but not lions.
Meanwhile pokemon intelligence ranges from slightly less smart than a human but still emotionally complex to being like 10x more intelligent than any normal person
