The dialogue at points is ripped seemingly word-for-word from the Go-Getters Mystery Dungeon special, and Chikorita's rescue team is actually fucking named Go-Getters. Mmmmchu joins them and now I guess we're looking for a Caterpie. This is going to be a long game.
