>>40923437I think it's easier for Digimon though because it has a lot more room to breath as far as designs go. Digimon can be as artificial as you want since they're masses of data, but Pokemon are supposed to be biological entities.
I think there definitely has been some drift in the designs though. Digimon from the first 5 Vpets were all dirty and organic looking, with bulging veins and pock marks everywhere. The humanoid ones, like Angemon and Devimon, still had distinctly inhuman proportions. In the Pendulum era things got a little more clean, but as time has gone on, many of the designs have gotten much more perfect and toy like.
