Could it exist? Yes, it could. If GF and TPC wanted, they could develop a huge-ass game, BIIIIIIG like everyone want it to.
But how long would that game take to develop? Years. A long-ass time.
BotW took like what, 5 years of development? And the staff was in the thousands of people. GameFreak are only like a 100 people studio.
I don't think you people understand that money doesn't magically make gamefreak have thousands of manpower and talent.
Again, the point is that they don't have time. TPC already has a schedule. Merchandise, the duration of a gen, the anime, everything is already calculated.
They can't just grind everything to a halt and wait 5+ years for Gamefreak to develop a single "Pokemon of the Wild" game. They don't have time. They have to crap out games nearly on a yearly basis. Be it a mainline or a remake game.
It's not a matter of laziness. It's a matter of being an unprofitable business model for them.
