>>48587344Yup, it was something similar in my case. I'm pretty sure my schoolmates' first gen was Hoenn though, because they always talk about R/S/E whenever they reminisce about the good ol' days. I had no clue about Pokémon until 2008, but I do remember one of the cool kids being hyped for Diamond a year before, so I assume Pokémon was popular until D/P and maybe Platinum, too. Everyone had either a GBA or a DS, and until HG/SS, everyone knew Hoenn, Sinnoh, watched the anime and bought collectibles and stuff like that. Quite Pokémon-obsessed I think, but I really got into the series with HG/SS and by that point only two or three guys were still interested in playing the games. Everyone else had already moved on to GTA, CoD, Tekken or PES. I wish I had joined them a bit earlier, when Emerald was still the 'new thing'.
