Why is it that for Pokemon suffers most from "You guys are all pessimistic, stop shitting on the games you ungrateful haters >:((("
Any other game franchise, a revealed game could appear to have glaring flaws and people will openly discuss it in confidence that most people acknowledge what should be fixed or changed. For some dumbass reason, a good half of people who play Pokemon sweep these criticisms under the rug simply because "It's the new Pokemon game! You're not allowed to be jaded! It could be worse!", like this is the one and only franchise immune to criticism.
Now, the new games don't look BAD to play, it's tried and true Pokemon after all. It'll be fun for what it's worth. However, there is NO EXCUSE for the next big mainline Pokemon game on the Switch to use upscaled 3DS graphics off of the SM engine. Backgrounds during battle are still composed of blurry images. People and Pokemon still move like robots. Battle animations are still bland and static. The region still appears to be made up of linear corridors and areas. We're NOT asking for open world and real time elements (and if you are, you're asking for trouble), all we want is a Pokemon game that looks like a lick of fucking effort was put into it. Gamefreak isn't being bogged down by low system specs of the 3DS anymore, they can do so much more. So many things to make the games look nicer, to immerse yourself in the game, quality of life changes, etc. But they don't, and they give us half-assed excuses like "muh mobile gaming" and "muh short attention span". The step into 3D was not kind to Gamefreak, and the games have been in a decline since Gen 6. There's no reason they shouldn't have gotten their shit together by now.
What will make us happy? A Pokemon game that looks like a passion product, not "The next Pokemon game. You'll buy it, bitch." We won't get that so long as Gamefreak keeps going the way they are. It's disappointing.
