Especially when they just poorly overlay sprites from the main series.
Reborn has reached a point where its fan community is large enough for the devs to crowdsource sprite art, which is what they did to make a lot of the gen 6-7 pokemon. While most of them do stick out from the b/w original sprites, they're usually pretty decent, so I'm surprised they never got someone to rework these utterly disgusting sprites.
While my main gripe with grimdark stories in pokemon is that they simply do not fit together, I also find it annoying that we're supposed to imagine characters that look like this undergoing serious scenarios. But to be fair, the character design itself is shitty to begin with.
