I could only do one route/area/totem with a full team before all my members were at least 2 or 3 levels higher than any enemy. It forced me to rotate and I ended up by the fourth island with almost a full box of mons all still within 1 level of enemies. It was fun getting to try out new mons but I never felt fully bonded with a single team and as soon as started to really like a mom I felt like i had to box it because it was overleveled.
The new exp share is always going to be game breaking when it gives 350% of the normal xp. And not to mention (and I know this started in gen 6) now every time you catch a mon you get xp. So if you try to catch new mons as you see them and gradually complete the dex as you play, you'll be even more overleveled. And amie/refresh is a really cool feature but as soon as you get 2 hearts of affection, guess what, even more xp! Wondertrade is a great feature and I love it. It allows you to get mons not in the regional dex and to get mons that are late game earlier to use them for more of the adventure, but hey, they have a different ot so ding! More xp! And if theyre a different level ding! You guessed it. MORE XP. They really went overboard in cramming as much so as they could into modern games.
Heres a scenario. Play XY or usum. Wondertrade until you get 6 mons from different countries, Immediately max them out in amie/refresh, catch every new mom you see. I'm curiously how freakishly overleveled you could get. I might try that. Oh and if you want to get extra spicy farm some lucky eggs from pelipper. Take it to the EXTREME.
