I don't mind Turner's designs very much but it was definitely a bad idea having him be in charge of the art. His design philosophy is "befriendable characters" over consistent franchise aesthetic (as seen in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJk3wrvL6To) and that's detrimental to the overall identity of Pokémon. Most designs this gen are just "cute round creature with arbitrary color markings" like the Octopus line, Purple Dino and so on. Thanks for reading my blog.
