Kanto to the Orange Islands is good stuff, doesn't drag, good comedy, and for a first "season" of Pokemon it's almost all enjoyable.
Johto is the first time we had actual filler hell, so it drags but many episodes are pretty good.
AG is pretty good, perfect? No. but it's fun and I'm slowly going through it.
DP is good, characters, battles, and so on. That 1 year of filler is the biggest downside of it.
Depending on your tastes the contests may be the worst parts of AG/DP for you. I personally dislike the contests.
BW was a failed reboot which was screwed over by the Earthquake and ruined the pacing of the series and that lasted till the end.
XY is generally received as the best series because Ash seems like a proper evolution of his DP self along with the new battle animations, artstyle, and group.
SM is mixed in reception with the artstyle being the biggest negative factor for people and the general lack of action. If you like SoL then you should give SM a shot.
