I think a lot of it just comes down to the characters being shipped though, ie:personally despise ugly bastards and would never include one with a loli, shota or anyone else, and I don't think that's really an uncommon opinion for women to have.
Basically I like looking at pretty things, and older men with young boys/girls is particularly pretty to me, that's why the only yuri ship I can think of that I like for pokemon is Cynthia and Dawn.
