The only thing it really would fear is Ice Shard with its speed to outpace Ice Beam users and even then, there's only one or two good users of ice shard.

If remakes were made then it could be an improvement, look at Johto remakes and who it's been improved. Whos to say it couldn't be the same for 3rd gen?
I never got the whole hating on surfing thing, it was an island region so what do you expect? Its adds more to just walking everywhere and by the end of it, you could just fly to places. I will say fuck Sinnoh and the shit like the swamps and snowy areas that made it painfully slower.
