Mystical Afterimages were even used in the first anime's showing, something that a magical Fairy/Psychic pokemon like Kirlia or Gardevoir could pull off fairly nicely.
Look, all I'm saying is visually and thematically this particular move would fit perfectly fine on this mon, there are so many other pokemon that have odd moves with slightly changed up flavor to better symbolize it on the pokemon. For a Kirlia, its not stretching your imagination by any means to see this Pokemon performing some type of magical dance to empower itself.
