The fact that Gen2 somehow became the posterboy for wacky Pokemon distribution and not Gen 4 is proof of how many dumbass zoomers who's first games were D/P have infested this board. There's a reason literally every team in DP is some mix of Starter/Staraptor/Luxray/HM Slave/Lucario. The Pokemon distribution is absolutely dogshit.
>Burmy, Combee and Cherubi lines all locked to Honey trees>Croagunk, Skorupi and Carnivine all locked to the Great Marsh, some 4 badges into the game>caves have LITERALLY nothing but gen 1 Pokemon and Bronzor (https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Mt._Coronet#Pok.C3.A9mon)>obscene number of Pokemon are version exclusive and said Pokemon don't even show up in Platinum, meaning your only chance to use Stunky or Glameow are in either Diamond or Pearl >Gen 4 has a ton of cross gen evolutions...but almost no way to obtain most of their pre-evolutions at all in DP, so no one was using the brand new Pokemon the gen showed off>number of Pokemon locked to the ear end of the game like Snowver or Sneasel >lmao gimmick Pokemon like Spiritomband finally
>Munchlax having a 1% spawn rate from Honey trees that can't be soft reset for, also, it has a set number of trees it can spawn from, meaning if some of your earlygame trees aren't the lucky munchlax ones, you won't get him until the tail end of the game IF you roll that 1%!With all that being said, the number of Gen 4 Pokemon you're not getting on a blind Sinnoh playthough is...the vast majority of them. Johto's Pokemon distribution was something that rewarded people for backtracking and doing the optional content with cool new Pokemon as the reward. Sinnoh's Pokemon distribution is "duhhh, we forgot to put the relevant Pokemon here, but have another route where the only obtainable Pokemon are Staravia, Bibarel and some Genwun garbage."
Seriously, they had a place called Feugo ironworks but didn't put Magmar in it until Platinum version.
