Hula Dancers aren't fairies though. They tend to have nothing to do with fae and are just cheerful individuals who wear plant-like material as skirts. Also Gloom dropping the Poison typing isn't weird at all dispite it being a step back defensively. Gloom is a foul smelling toxic plant with a gloomy appearance. Bellossom does the opposite by replacing the foul flower with freshly blossomed flowers with a good sent alongside a cheerful bright attitude which is why it drops the Poison typing as it doesn't suit Blossom's concept. Its more of a flavor thing, as the game wasn't designed for competitive during gen 2.
