>>36903187I mean Pokémon is already the most accessible JRPG series. It may not be the most basic in terms of game mechanics, but it's very easy to grasp. I think that the people who are intimidated by Pokémon are those who are intimidated by JRPGs in general. It's a very text-heavy genre, so people who dislike reading aren't gonna be into it and there are plenty of people who dislike turn-based games. One of the major problems with LGPE is it's trying to fix the latter issue by making the battles even easier. They weren't that hard to begin with, but you're not going to get people invested by just turning every opponent into a one-hit win. There's no gratification in that. The people who are just mashing through the gameplay are doing so because they want to get to the next cutscene, but Pokémon cutscenes are still heavily text-based and rarely have visual spectacle of any sort. The most visual spectacle in any Pokémon game is the intro movie, but even that's gone downhill since Gen VI. There's the odd really cool cutscene, of which only around 2 or 3 exist per game, but compare that to any other JRPG which has numerous.cool moments sprinkled throughout the entire game.
In comparison to LGPE, here's another Switch game.
