>>55222250I don't know how feasible this is in the PMD engines, but they can take notes from Chocobo's Dungeon 2 (a Mystery Dungeon game, but made by Squaresoft) and add gimmicks to the bosses.
As examples:
The first boss separates into several body parts when damaged enough. That includes a heart that will run away from you, so you have to chase and attack it.
The second boss has two minions who constantly set up bombs which explode after a few turns, you can either walk out of range or kick them away (you can even kick them back at the enemies but they will try to walk away, so you have to time it to kick just before they explode). Also,
your partner fights in a war tank for this boss.Another example in the CD series is the final boss of the original Wii version of Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon, where
there is a special tile at the center of the boss room that restores your AP to allow you to spam abilities. But the boss knows that, so he has attacks that kick you away from that tile and can even set up a forcefield to stop you from entering it. This was removed in the EveryBuddy re-release for whatever reason
along with ruining a cutscene to make it kid-friendly.I think the closest thing to that kind of stuff in PMD was the AoE attack from the final boss of Super.
