I don't think this is all entirely subjective.
Having representative icons is objectively an improvement over generic icons.
One is simply better than the other. Being able to see what a pokemon in your pc is, is better than not being able to see what it is.
The subjective part is whether you think it matters. But one of these features IS better than the other.
