Help me understand something about the plot. Spoilers obviously. You don't get to return to the present? You're just trapped in the past, never to see your family or friends ever again? And in the present day, your family and friends think you've gone missing or maybe even kidnapped? For the rest of their lives, they're left to wonder what happened to you, if you're even still alive? Your parents essentially have to experience the loss of their child. What about the Pokémon you used to have? They just believe you've abandoned them? Isn't this all fucked up?
