>Grass/Fighting>Fire/Dark>Water/PsychicIf it was typed like this, then it kind of gives each starter equal footing against one another. It could also follow a medieval theme as well (Kalos IS based on a European country, after all).
-Grass/Fighting could reference chivalry and knighthood, just like you said.
-Fire/Dark could reference witches; Teerunaa and its "broomstick tail" seem to reference that. Plus, who's to say that dark types can't use psychic attacks as well?
-Water/Psychic could reference wizards and sorcery; I'll be honest though, this is just a wild guess. It'd be pretty cool to see a wizard frog as the final evo, though (pic related)
Anyway, that's just my hypothetical hunch.
