The region being new pokemon only was probably the most controversial topic at the time and probably still is.Most of great unova mons were either late/postgame so people shitted on the pokedex variety.
Looking back now I find it interesting that the regional variety was even a problem, i'm sure most of us would love gen 9 to be new mons only, it would be better than the forced kanto shilling we get now.
