>yokai>that started manifesting in digital space when technology progressed. I think thats a coolAs a digimon fan I did have a idea for a offshoot fiction in that style.
Basically what saints row is to GTA.
In my view the mons are literally yokai the name is even used. They all have names who end with Kai.
And the thing is that these yokai represent real human concepts.
For example Cyborg-Kai is basically a cyborg.
There is one based on fictional characters and astronauts.
And in the universe the humans notice it same for the yokai there are 2 theories here.
One is the human centrist theory that yokai are basically mental constructs that manifest in yokai world when enough humans think about a concept hard enough and are brought to life like this.
There are yokai who originated more then 2000 years ago with things like Knight-Kai and Samurai-Kai. And more modern ones like cyborgs and robots.
The other theory because some yokai find it really offensive that they are products of humans is that the yokai basically influence the human world to change in their own image (it is not taken seriously by the fiction itself and looks like gigantic cope.).
The entire "it is a le computer" idea is drooped, there are yokai who are new and based on computers HOWEVER they originated only because humans started thinking about these things in mass when these things got invented.
It is basically like american gods mixed with 40K chaos gods.
This also means that the yokai world existed in the distant past only it was more full of yokai who are more based on medieval ideas like ancient japan etc.
