I think I like Samurott the best out of the Unova starters, but I admit that it's awkward. First of all it has swords and it's not bipedal. Sure, it can stand on two legs (supposedly) to dual wield the swords (which aren't even seen unsheathed ingame) but that begs the question: why doesn't it do that all the time, why isn't that its default pose? Maybe the Mega Evolution just stands on two legs and has the swords out.
Secondly, I can't grasp the anatomy. The arms/legs are pretty much just drawn as noodle limbs and don't show any definite joints. How are its legs like? Otter-like or what? Flippers like a sea lion, but then why does it have claws? The legs just end with a few claws and that's it. I really don't understand how they're supposed to be.
Relating to this, won't the sheath/armor restrict movement? Obviously, it shouldn't be able to bend its limbs against them, seeing as they're made of seashells. The sword seems to be awfully short if it's to fit inside the sheath. And how will it unsheath one? It doesn't look like the arms are long enough to do that, at least without looking very awkward.
Stats-wise all the Unova starters are shit and outclassed by others. There's Contrary Serperior but unless it gets Draco Meteor, it'll just get stopper by any Sap Sipper. I shouldn't say "it'll" because it's obvious that Game Freak hates Serperior and will never release a DW Snivy. Or any of the other Unova starters, not that they're that good.
In fact I think that all the Unova starters were purposely trained wrong, as a joke, to make players use all the other new pokemon more. The new exp. system also helps in this. In the past people often just flattened everything with their starter, but I don't think many people did that in gen 5.
