The thing that bugs me about Gen 9 (and Gen 8 a bit too) is the complete lack of cohesion in the designs. With Gen 7 it felt like everything was carefully crafted to fit with the tropical aesthetic of the game, and you can put any 2 Alolamons side by side (ignoring UBs) and neither looks out of place, but now they just throw random shit in.
Like, this is the Spain region, and we have a Minecraft golem, a dolphin superhero, a Sanrio mice family, etc. Not only do the designs themselves look weird, but there’s no consistency between them.
