>>38884292Nothing inherently, I can appreciate some good fanservice now and then. The problem is that GameFreak prioritizes fanservice over developing their new content. Look at XY, Kalos is barely finished and not a single new Pokemon gets a Mega until ORAS. Look at LGPE, shit's self-explanatory. If the SS leak is to be believed, Pikachu/Lapras/Meowth get to "Gigantamax" for special features, while most of the cast is simply resized (including your starter, presumably). GameFreak keeps trying to recapture the lightning in a bottle that was Red and Blue without understanding what actually made it successful, and in the process they stifle the series' potential for growth. Or, more cynically, they understand that Pokemon fans will buy both versions regardless of quality if they get to use their favorites with a few new monsters thrown in.
