>>56647961I have a similar story where I was soft-resetting for a shiny Regirock in White 2, but stayed up way too late at the time, and gave up, captured it, and Escape Rope'd out. The devil on my shoulder told me to go back inside the cave for shits and giggles but the first encounter inside was a shiny Boldore. Unfortunately stuck on Y as I never got any game after SM and never bothered to get a Bank sub, but it's a moment I'll never forget. Though the silver lining is that the Regirock I did catch was Lax and had a perfect Defense IV, so there's that.
