That said, cards from today in 20 years (provided Pokemon is still relevant) will still probably go up, but by then base set will have eclipsed them. And i say that as a 99% modern buyer
Base set has 2 things going for it
1. KANTOOOOO
2. Monumentally it was the first set of Pokemon cards ever. Besides the nostalgia, besides the inflated prices, it has cemented its place just by being the first. And for that, it will always be revered and never be forgotten.
