Eurofag here, got the game later than a lot of you but couldn't help and read your opinions before playing it, right now, literally moments ago I finished the main plot part for the first time and wanted to share some quick thoughts about it.
I was skeptical before playing it, the opinions I read here were divided, some of the things seemed lacking or not done properly, but honestly speaking, this game was the first Pokemon game that made me sad when it ended. The plot was fresh, original and well-planned, literally ALL characters were likable and memorable with their unique traits and quirks, the overworld and region design was absolutely stunning, music perfectly fitting the theme and location Alola drew insporation from, even whole my team consisting of only new Alolan Pokemon exceeded my expectations. I know I have post-game content yet to dive in (no matter how small or big it is), but I'm not scared to say that this game might be my favourite Pokemon game ever and I was into Pokemon since early Generation III days. If this is how Ohmori plans on directing main series Pokemon games (not counting ORAS and all limitations he had to face while directing remakes), then I can't wait to see what he's going to do in the next installments.
I am authentically sad now that this adventure ended, I didn't expect that the final festival in Iki Town would make me so nostalgic and already missing Lillie, Hau and co. Of course, there were some missteps and failures here and there like new fishing system and some not enough expanded on areas and ideas, but all in all, Pokemon Sun reminded me why I loved Pokemon in a first place, it's really close to being a perfect Pokemon experience in my opinion.
Let's make this an appreciation thread for Generation VII first pair of games, they deserve it. Let's share what we loved about the games and the thoughts after finishing it, favourite characters, locations or parts in the story.
