it sort of pissed me off that the announcement came only a year into Gen 7. Gens 3 and 4 were 4 years long each, 5 and 6 were three years, and speculation puts gen 7 at only 2. This being despite the fact that more and more people are getting into competetive, therefore more and more people would appreciate a more drawn-out generation with time to breed teams and SR legendaries for the metagame.
I can understand why, though. When I was a kid GF could pad out the generation with spinoffs and reasonably expect them to sell. The younger players today don’t seem too interested in side games.
