I like gen 4 because they're effectively everything that the developers learned from the original games and gen 3, which lead to a great (if not tedious) way to transfer and catch older pokemon by inserting old GBA games into the DS, a plot with legendary pokemon similar to gen 3, much less water than gen 3, plenty of kanto and johto mons to catch, improved mechanics, and endgame, plus the most soulful remakes tro ever grace our screens that gave us an amazing following pokemon system that transcended the game with the pokewalker. Gen 4 wasn't my first gen, but it truly was the gen where GF went all out trying to make fans happy
