>>57626625I always wanted a Pokémon game more focused on an urban area, with back alleys, sewers, skyscrapers, malls, parks, condos, abandoned buildings, etc. A game where you can meet trainers from different subcultures and see how they relate to Pokémon, punks, skins, gangsters, idols, salarymen, street artists, police officers, firefighters, construction workers, etc.
But this game looks bland. As others have pointed out, the lack of interiors shown in the trailer is concerning. The teleportation to the roof is also a big red flag, it seems like the map will mostly be a big, flat labyrinth.
The battles look kind of tedious, like a worse version of V’s combat in DMV.
At least the Pokémon are walking around, which is an improvement over past games. But I still wanted to see Machamp helping with construction, bird Pokémon delivering mail, and more interactions that make the world feel alive.
Finally, wild Pokémon instead of street/stray Pokémon is really disappointing.
On a side note, I think Game Freak has completely given up on placing Pokémon according to their themes and context. They’re just giving people random Pokémon. I can see why, realistically most people would own more Lillipup and Meowth than Onix or Electabuzz, which could get kinda boring.
