Every one starts at a leisurely pace, covering one thing here, embellishing there, and then it is as if Kusaka starts getting worried that he won't have enough chapters left and we're off the races. But he still has to cover every little inch of a given game, which is why I said the Ruby/Sapphire broke the formula (for reasons anyone whose read it will recall). They are usually quite hype in the moment though, I guess it gets the desired result! It handles the shared world tactfully, too; previous storylines "happened" and their characters and events can be referenced or called upon again, but each group's story is solidly their own, the prior ones are not expected to bail them out.
