In a world where they know that the mushroom will just end up killing the Pokémon, it's kind of fucked up that no one's working on some fungicide to help it. It can keep the grass typing, since it seems like the mushrooms may be growing over some wing buds and them being made of leaves would make sense, and this would probably lead to it gaining an alternate evolution that turns into a mature cicada rather than the stunted one that Parasect is.
