I used to really like the Charmander line, it was cute and became a cool dragon but for whatever reason he just dropped off for me, before he was even shilled really hard, I just found Bulbasaur to be better, I just find it more interesting.
Same with Pikachu, but my reasoning was Pikachu quickly got thinner and I liked Pikachu a lot for being a chunky rodent, so Raichu quickly became preferred over it.
